F.M.Alexander and his discovery

Frederick Matthias Alexander (1869 - 1965) discovered his remarkable technique in response to solving vocal problems he had as an actor. Since no doctors were able to help him, he embarked upon a journey of observation, finding that his voice was related to the use of his entire body. Over time he found a way to 'redirect' his reactions, his brain to body responses, not only curing his vocal problems but affecting his whole health and well being. Soon he was asked to share his discoveries and help other people. The technique has existed for 100 years now and is recommended by many doctors and Chiropractors.

Some well known proponents of the technique:

Medical professionals: Dr Lucy Brown (neuroscientist), Professor Nicholas Tinbergen (Nobel Prize for Physiology/medicine 1973)

Actors: Robin Williams, Hilary Swank, John Cleese, Judy Dench, Steve Martin, James Earl Jones

Musicians: Sting, Paul McCartney, Julie Andrews

Writers: Aldous Huxley, John Dewey, George Bernard Shaw
